1940-2012

José M. Arredondo, 71, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012. He was born June 10, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of José and Margarita Arredondo.

José was a retired firefighter of 20 years with the city of San Antonio, Fire Station No. 10. He was a veteran who served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Olivia Forey.

José is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rita G. Arredondo; his sons, José Antonio Arredondo and Carlos Miguel Arredondo; his daughter, Rita Sue Arredondo; his grandchildren, Victoria Ann, Carlos Andres, and Jessica Ann Arredondo; his sisters, Ernestina Hernandez, Evangelina Hernandez, and Estela Arredondo; his brother, Benito Arredondo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, March 25, from 5-9 p.m. in the Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the St. Dominic Catholic Church in San Antonio with the Rev. Eric Ritter officiating.

Interment followed in the San Fernando Cemetery No. 2 in San Antonio, with Firefighter Honors.
