Artists needed for exhibit in Boerne
BOERNE -- The Cibolo Nature Center and the Hill Country Council for the Arts are seeking artists in the Texas Hill Country and beyond to participate in “Art and Conservation: Our Hidden Treasures,” a juried art show set for spring 2013 to raise awareness about and promote conservation of Hill Country animals, plants, land, and water through the unique perspectives of different artists.
The 2013 exhibit will open at the Cibolo Nature Center as part of the Boerne Professional Artists’ annual Parade of Artists. Artists are selected to participate via a jury process, and the resulting artwork will be judged as part of the exhibit.
Judges will bestow a Best of Show award of $1,000 and two honorable mention awards of $100 and $75, respectively. Exhibition attendees will be able to vote on a People’s Choice Award of $100. All artwork included in the show will be for sale, with 20 percent of the artists’ proceeds from the sale going to support outdoor education and citizen science programs at the nonprofit Cibolo Nature Center.
By May 1, interested artists are asked to submit a digital image of their artwork inspired by a natural area on Texas Hill Country public land. Artwork may be either two- or three-dimensional. An entry fee of $35 includes an annual membership in the Hill Country Council for the Arts.
Works will be juried by May 8, and qualifying artists will be entered in a lottery to determine the private properties to which they will be assigned.
Entry forms and additional details about the competition are available at www.cibolo.org or www.hccarts.org, or call Doris Perez or Krystal Mathis at 830-249-4616 for more information.
