SAN ANTONIO -- Impact San Antonio awards at least one $100,000 project grant to a single nonprofit organization once a year, and will begin accepting grant applications from nonprofits that serve the Bexar County region on March 1 in five focus areas: arts/culture, education, family, health/wellness, and environment/recreation/historic preservation.

The 2012 grant application will be available online at www.impactsanantonio.org/grants/ beginning March 1; the deadline for grant applications is Thursday, May 31.

This will be the eighth year project grants will be awarded to a San Antonio nonprofit agency by Impact San Antonio, a “giving circle” comprised of individual women who each contribute $1,000 annually and combine their donations into at least one substantial gift per year.

At the Grant Award Night on October 24, Impact San Antonio members will listen to presentations by the finalists and vote by individual ballot. The winning grant recipient(s) will be selected by majority vote. At least one $100,000 project grant is bestowed that night immediately following the vote.

If Impact San Antonio collects more than $100,000 in membership donations, the additional money collected past the initial $100,000 will go as a project grant to the finalist that comes in second at Grant Award Night.

Two free applicant-training workshops will be held at Texas Public Radio, 8401 Datapoint Drive, Suite 800, in San Antonio on Tuesday, March 13, from 2-4 p.m., and Wednesday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m.

Seating is limited and advance reservations are requested via email to Michelle Price at price.michelle@hotmail.com. Attendance is not required to submit an application.
