Brandon Padier, a senior at La Vernia High School, competed Feb. 25 in the University Interscholastic League Solo and Ensemble Competition on piano. He performed Aaron Copland’s “Four Piano Blues - Movement 3” and received the rating of 1, which qualifies him to advance to the state-level competition in May in Austin.

This will be Brandon’s third time competing at the state level on piano -- which is a record-breaking event for La Vernia High School. He is a piano student of Renee Rendon.

Brandon, a member of the Mighty Bear Band on the trombone, also is a member of the Jazz Band, playing guitar. Brandon also plays guitar in “Sake of Twenty,” a youth praise and worship band at the La Vernia First Baptist Church.
