SAN ANTONIO - Rudolph Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, is the featured speaker of the 2012 Distinguished Lecture Series scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in Laurie Auditorium. This lecture is free and open to the public, and seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis.

As mayor of New York City, Giuliani focused on reducing crime, reforming welfare, and improving the quality of life. On Sept. 11, 2001, Giuliani immediately began leading the recovery of the city as it faced its darkest hour. He was named "Person of the Year" by TIME magazine, knighted by the Queen of England, and dubbed "Rudy the Rock" by French President Jacques Chirac. Former First Lady Nancy Reagan also presented him with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Freedom Award.

In 2002, Giuliani founded the professional services firm, Giuliani Partners, a leader in emergency preparedness, public safety, leadership during crises, and financial management. He also serves as a name partner in the international law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani LLP, which employs more than 400 lawyers, serving mainly clients in the energy and financial service industries.

The Distinguished Lecture Series is made possible by an endowment gift by Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Brown of San Antonio. For more information, contact Mary Anthony in the Office of University Communications at 210-999-8441.
