Please tell me that Americans have not regressed to the days of lynchings and mob rule.

You can tell me, perhaps, but it appears not to be true.

Headline: Twitter account dedicates itself to killing Zimmerman

"The @KillZimmerman Twitter account's image is a photo of gun-sight crosshairs superimposed on Zimmerman's picture.

"On March 24 a “KillZimmerman” Twitter account began publishing calls for violence against George Zimmerman, the self-appointed neighborhood watch captain who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26.

"Five days later, the account is still on its crusade to avenge Martin. ...

“'This Page Is 4 Da Ppl Who Believe Zimmerman Should Be Shot Dead In The Street,” the Twitter account’s description reads, “The Same Way TRAYVON Was. No Justice No Peace.'”

I'm not hearing any outrage from those who flipped out when Sarah Palin used the mere graphic of a target over specific geographic areas of the United States. She was symbolically saying that she had Democrats on her radar and in her sights. Palin as in no way telling people to go out and kill or hurt anyone. She was speaking symbolically.

Yet there were howls of protests from the liberals over Palin's graphic.

Where are the howls now when mobs are literally asking, no demanding, that Zimmerman be "brought in." A bounty or bounties have been offered for his "arrest," but he has been charged with no crime.

This, indeed, sets a dangerous precedent. Hoards of people are targeting, literally, targeting Zimmerman and his family over the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. With no evidence, and based merely on heresy, rumors, and assumptions, mobs are calling for his arrest. They are inciting violence, and there is no protest from liberals -- not even from the White House. Instead, President Obama has fanned the flames by offering his sympathy and saying that if he had had a son, he would have looked like Trayvon.

Scary times for America. Pray that sanity be restored.
