AUSTIN -- Troy Allison, 58, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, is this month’s featured fugitive with a $12,000 reward offered for information leading to his capture if the tip comes in during the month of April. Texas Crime Stoppers tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Allison has an extensive criminal history, including Aggravated Rape, Sexual Assault, Assault and Sex Offense Against Child. He is currently wanted for Parole Violation and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

He went to prison for several years after sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman at gunpoint in Houston in 1977. Allison was paroled in 2003 and has been on the run from authorities since 2004. He was last seen in the Lufkin area and has family in the Houston and Conroe areas. Authorities have reason to believe he was recently in the Laredo area. See wanted poster at: http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/SexOffenderDetails.aspx?&fugitive=Troy%20James%20Allison&id=36.

Allison previously served in the military and has also worked as a pipe fitter, welder and meat cutter. He has the letters “ZAN” and “USMC” tattooed on the outside of his upper right arm.

One offender from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Program is featured each month in hopes the higher reward money from the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division will generate additional tips. The higher reward amount will only be paid if the tip comes in the same month the fugitive is featured.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders.

Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in four different ways:
•Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
•Text the letters DPS--followed by your tip--to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
•Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
•Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).

All calls, texts, e-mails and Facebook messages are anonymous.

DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Sex Offender lists. You can find the current lists--with photos--on the DPS website at http://www.dps.texas.gov/texas10mostwanted/.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives yourself; they are considered armed and dangerous.
