The District Spring Extension Education Association Conference was held March 22 in San Marcos in the Claretian Hall at St. John Catholic Church.

Their purposes are to provide education which families can use in daily life, support 4-H programs, develop leadership, and extend Extension Education Club work to all families.

Those attending were Juanita Cantu, Pat Warzecha, Rose Polasek, Dahlia Torres, Dianne Roebuck, Joyce Baker, Sandy Migl, Bea Ploch, Kathy Opel, Cathy Medellin, Carol Schwan, Sherry Lerich, and Py McKenzie.

Some of the members brought home awards in Cultural Arts for their handmade items. Cathy Medellin won best of show for her hand- appliquéd quilt and a blue ribbon for her embroidered pillow. Mata Orth won a blue ribbon for her “Winter” wall hanging. Lorene Chilek won a blue ribbon for her crocheted afghan.

Lunch was provided by All Occasions Catering from Seguin. The speaker for the conference was Dr. Calvin Finch with San Antonio Water Systems, who spoke on “Growing Vegetables and Conserving Water.”
