Abundant Life Pentecostal Church/Brahm French Minstries will host a barbecue benefit on Saturday, April 14, at the Cash America Pawn Shop, located at 1111 East Court St. (corner of Court and King streets) in Seguin. The fund-raiser will benefit the family of Amanda Marie Ireton of Pandora.

Amanda, 10, was diagnosed with a rare and severe form of scleroderma/diffused disabling morphea in May 2011. The disease has no known cure. The disease causes her skin and muscles to harden and eventually affects bone growth. Amanda has already lost 20 percent of the mobility in her legs.

She is taking codeine daily and takes nine oral medications, including chemotherapy treatments.

Family and friends are trying to raise funds to put in a therapeutic pool at her home, so Amanda can do her therapy daily. At the present time, the volunteers are in need of about eight yards of concrete, propane, heater, and the water.

A trust account has been set up at the Commerce Bank Texas in Stockdale. Make checks payable to “Keep Amanda Smiling” and mail to the Commerce Bank Texas, P.O. Box 97, Stockdale, TX 78160. For more information, call 830-996-3125.
