SAN ANTONIO -- The Holmes Run With The Pack boys golf tournament was held March 23-24 at The Golf Club of Texas, and teams from East Central and Floresville were both in attendance.

More than 100 golfers representing 21 different schools were on hand for the tournament. Boerne Champion, O’Connor, and Corpus Christi Ray grabbed the top three spots, and the teams from East Central and Floresville finished 10th and 13th, respectively.

The Hornets were in 11th place after the first day of play, but gained a spot after a strong second-day showing. East Central was led by Tyler Haecker’s 25th-place individual finish, as he shot scores of 87 and 80 during the competition. Thomas Ellis had scores of 88 and 90 to finish 43rd overall, and Ben Rodriguez finished in 56th place with scores of 97 and 89. Kurtis Johnston and Garrett Bradley helped round out the Hornet team with their individual finishes of 87th and 89th place.

Steven Hix helped the Floresville Tigers to a 13th-place team finish with his rounds of 87 and 86 en route to a 34th-place individual finish. The Tigers were 16th after the first day, but jumped three spots with a strong showing on day two. Kodie McClure shot an 88 on the first day and a 92 on the second day, putting him into 49th place overall. Ray Contreras made the biggest improvement between the two days for Floresville, as he dropped his first-day score of 102 down to a 97 on the second day. He finished 74th overall. Noah Barnard and Troy Hughey completed the Tiger team, as they finished 83rd and 101st, respectively.
