(SPM Wire) April is National Volunteer Month and there is no better time for you to get involved in the community. Set a great example for your children by volunteering with them when they are young.

Here are a few great volunteer ideas for parents and kids:

Visit a nursing home: The simple act of sharing a story or playing a game could brighten an elderly person’s day.

Donate food: Have your children pick out items at the grocery store; then take the food to a pantry together.

Clean up: Pick up litter in a local park. It could be a fun way to get outdoors and will instill in your children respect for the environment.
