Adolfo Yanes Lara, 70, of Nixon, Texas, died Friday, April 6, 2012, in a San Antonio hospital. Adolfo was born in Smiley Sept. 10, 1941, to Lucas and Lucia Yanes Lara.

He worked in the oil fields most of his life, and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Adolfo was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jonathan J. “Jay” Lara; and his brothers, Ruben Lara and Jesse Lara.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Esperanza Lara of Nixon; his daughters, Debbie Johnson of Nixon and Rebecca Martin and husband Kyle of Beaumont; his sons, George Lara and wife Sylvia of Nixon and Joe Lara and wife Katherine of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; and his brother, Gilbert Lara of Corpus Christi.

Visitation was held Monday, April 9, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon.

Interment followed in the Nixon Latin American Cemetery in Nixon.
