La Vernia Connections: Mayor’s Corner — The final edition
Mayor of La VerniaApril 11, 2012 | 1,471 views | Post a comment
The past four years have passed quickly and yielded the expected challenges associated with the responsibility of managing a city.
La Vernia will have a new mayor next month and I look forward to being retired again after a 14-year tenure on the city council.
La Vernia has welcomed new commercial growth that has provided job opportunities in a slumping economy, and the convenience of local shopping for folks in the La Vernia area. The efforts of a hard-working staff have resulted in the accomplishment of more than 40 major projects, including new franchise agreements with utility and solid-waste providers, new police department offices, and the first-ever retirement plan for our employees.
A special “thank you” to the San Antonio River Authority, which has been a good neighbor and an invaluable and generous resource to our city.
I will always be grateful to the citizens who have supported me through every election since 1998 and trusted me to be their voice in city government. I still think of you as family.
Harold Schott is the mayor of La Vernia.
