ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

La Vernia tennis team wins district title

La Vernia’s varsity and junior varsity tennis teams competed in the district tennis tournament April 4-5, and both teams had a great showing.

The varsity team took the district championship for the 10th year in a row with an overall team score of 85 points. Pleasanton was a close second with 80 points. The varsity girls won the district championship with 45 points, while the boys district championship went to Pleasanton with 42.5 points. The Bears were not far behind with 40 points, though. Sarah Ellis, Preslie Pavlich, Levi Andrews, Nick Guitron, and Adam Poore all qualified for the regional tournament in Corpus Christi April 18-19. Individual district results are listed below.

Varsity

Girls Singles:

Sarah Ellis, first place, District Champion.

Preslie Pavlich, second place, District runner-up.

Girls Doubles:

Ali Beck and Haleigh Johnson, third place.

Destiny Roath and Paula Watson, reached semifinals.

Boys Singles:

Levi Andrews, first place, District Champion.

Cody McGill, round of 16.

Boys Doubles:

Adam Poore and Nick Guitron, first place, District Champions.

Darius DuBose and Zach Kubena, reached quarterfinals.

Mixed Doubles:

Julie Barnes and Jonathan Bitsis, reached quarterfinals.

Chris De Leon and Alex Leytham, reached quarterfinals.

Junior varsity

Girls Singles:

Kelly Poore, first place, District Champion.

Megan Amerson, reached semifinals.

Sara Lange, reached quarterfinals.

Lindsey Laskowski, reached quarterfinals.

Girls Doubles:

Catherine Miller and Stephanie Gunther, first place, District Champions.

Logan Parker and Payton Bernhardt, second place, District runners-up.
