AUSTIN -- Here is the fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (full report is available at www.tpwd.state.tx.us)

Freshwater

BRAUNIG Water clear. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Striped bass are fair on liver and perch near Dead Tree Point. Redfish are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp, cheesebait, and cut bait.



BUCHANAN Water murky; 66--70 degrees; 23.89' low. Black bass are good on Bleeding Shad Rat--L--Traps, chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits, and pumpkinseed Whacky Sticks over grass in creeks. Striped bass are fair on white jigs, silver Pirk Minnows, and live bait in 12--25 feet. White bass are fair on chartreuse Rat--L--Traps, watermelon Senkos, and Li'l Fishies early. Crappie are fair on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel catfish are fair on shrimp and cut bait. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.



CALAVERAS Water clear. Black bass are fair on minnows over grass. Striped bass are fair on spoons and chicken livers near the dam. Redfish are slow. Channel catfish are good on liver, shrimp, and cheesebait. Blue catfish are good on cut bait and liver. Yellow catfish are slow.



CANYON LAKE Water stained; 67--71 degrees; 6.69' low. Black bass are good on chartreuse topwaters and spinnerbaits, and on root beer/red flake Baby Brush Hogs in creeks, and main lake flats in 10--18 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on watermelon Rat--L--Traps and spinnerbaits upriver. Smallmouth bass are good on chartreuse tubes on jigheads, white JDC curl tail grubs, and Bleeding Shad Tiny Traps along main lake points and ledges. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are fair on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.



CHOKE CANYON Water clear; 68--72 degrees; 12.52' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and crankbaits. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch.



COLETO CREEK Water fairly clear; 1.67' low. Black bass are good on perch colored Rat--L--Traps and soft plastics. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows in 10--20 feet. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shrimp and liver. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch.



FALCON Water stained north, clear from marker 12 south; 70--74 degrees; 21.48' low. Black bass are good on watermelon and chartreuse soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and Rat--L--Traps. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are very good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are very good on frozen shrimp, stinkbait, nightcrawlers, and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.



GRANGER Water murky; 66--70 degrees; 0.27' high. Black bass are fair on white spinnerbaits upriver. White bass are fair on small white jigs upriver near Dickerson's. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles in 6--15 feet. Blue catfish are very good on juglines baited with shad and Zote soap. Yellow catfish are good on live perch.



LBJ Water clear; 67--71 degrees; 0.33' low. Black bass are good on perch colored topwaters, watermelon red Rat--L--Traps, and green pumpkin tubes in 12--25 feet. White bass are fair on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Crappie are good on minnows and chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are fair on live bait and stinkbait. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.



TRAVIS Water stained; 68--72 degrees; 40.58' low. Black bass are good on chrome topwaters, watermelon Brush Hogs, and white grubs. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on chartreuse jigs and chrome jigging spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and nightcrawlers in 20--35 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.



WALTER E. LONG Water lightly stained. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are fair on minnows. White bass are good on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shrimp and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

Saltwater

BAFFIN BAY Trout are fair to good in mud and grass on Corkies and topwaters. Redfish are good while casting to sand holes along the shorelines. Trout are fair to good on the King Ranch shoreline on topwaters, Bass Assassins, Sand Eels and Trout Killers.



BOLIVAR Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on soft plastics and plugs. Black drum and redfish are good at Rollover Pass.



CORPUS CHRISTI Redfish are fair to good around Shamrock Cove on small topwaters and spoons. Trout are fair to good on the edge of the spoils on Gulps and live shrimp.



FREEPORT Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs in Christmas Bay. Black drum and redfish are fair to good at San Luis pass on cracked blue crabs.



EAST GALVESTON BAY Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on topwaters and soft plastics on the incoming tide. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp.



WEST GALVESTON BAY Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Bull redfish and sharks are good on the beachfront on natural baits.



EAST MATAGORDA Trout are fair to good for drifters on live shrimp over humps and scattered shell. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on crabs and mullet.



MATAGORDA Redfish are fair to good in Oyster Lake on shrimp. Trout are fair on shell and grass on soft plastics.



PORT ARANSAS Black drum are fair in the Shrimpboat Channel on crabs and finger mullet. Redfish and sheepshead are fair to good at the jetty on shrimp. Trout are beginning to show at the jetty as well.



PORT ISABEL Snook are fair in the Brownsville Ship Channel on free--lined shrimp. Trout and redfish are fair to good in South Bay on live shrimp. Redfish are fair while drifting sand and grass flats on live shrimp and Gulps.



PORT MANSFIELD Trout are fair to good on topwaters around sand and grass holes and along ICW spoils. Redfish are fair to good while drifting pot holes.



PORT O’CONNOR Trout and redfish are fair on topwaters over mud and grass in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working the back lakes with live shrimp.



ROCKPORT Black drum are fair to good in the Lydia Ann Channel on crabs. Trout are fair over grass while drifting with live shrimp and Gulps.



NORTH SABINE Trout are fair to good under the birds when the wind allows on soft plastics and Gulps. Redfish are fair to good in the marsh on small topwaters and Stanley Ribbits.



SOUTH SABINE Sheepshead and black drum are good at the jetty on live shrimp. Trout are fair to good around the Reef on live shrimp and Gulps under a popping cork.



SOUTH PADRE Trout and redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on DOA Shrimp and Gulps. Jack crevalle, redfish, sheepshead and trout are fair to good at the jetty on live bait.



TEXAS CITY Redfish are fair in Moses Lake on shrimp and mullet. Sand trout and a few black drum are fair in the channel off the dike.



TRINITY BAY Trout are good for drifters working pods of shad and mullet on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Redfish are good at the spillway on crabs and mullet. Catfish are good in the marsh on shrimp.
