Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Ramon “Ray Ray” Barrera Jr., 26, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Floresville, Texas. He was born in San Antonio March 3, 1986, the son of Ramon Barrera Sr. and Sylvia Jaramillo. He was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher James Barrera; and his great-grandmother, Delores Gomez.

Ramon is survived by his parents, Cindy and Ramon Barrera Sr. of Floresville; his maternal grandmother, Irene G. Jaramillo of Floresville; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Guillen of San Antonio; his great-grandmother, Gloria G. Mendez of San Antonio; his son, Ray Anthony Barrera of Floresville; his sister, Angela Quintero and husband Robert of Floresville; niece and nephew Brenna and Brandon Quintero, both of Floresville; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A rosary was recited Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with the Rev. Phil Henning as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ruben Jaramillo II, Samuel Alfaro, Tony Jason Alfaro, Gilbert Estrada Jr., Robert Rene Quintero, Frank Guillen, and Armando Jaramillo.
