Letter: Another view of Obamacare’s constitutionality
Re: “Is Obamacare constitutional?” April 4
The column was well-written but from my perspective doesn’t tell the whole story. The Obamacare plan takes $500 million out of Medicare to start this program. This is $500 million people worked very hard to pay in out of their checks so they would have a nest egg when they retire. This is money taken out of every hard-working person who held down a job and paid into Medicare. Obama wants to put 30 million more people on Medicaid.
Companies who don’t want to pay for their employees’ insurance will no longer have to. They will have to pay a $2,000 penalty for each employee they don’t cover on insurance. If an individual does not buy health insurance, they will have to pay a penalty, and they can take it out of your tax return or put a lien on your property. Obamacare was supposed to cost $1 trillion, but now they say it will cost double that.
Bogert wrote about preventive care. Now, doctors are saying that checking for different cancers is no longer needed. One study for prostate cancer for men says it is not cost-efficient because out of 100 men, they find one case of cancer while several others get false readings and have to get tested further with negative results.
Doctors on “Fox News” said many doctors are no longer taking Medicaid and Medicare patients because of Obamacare. They don’t make enough money and it is hard to get reimbursed for Medicare and Medicaid. If Obamacare goes into effect, a lot of doctors are going to close their practices. If Obamacare goes into effect, the government will have people looking at your records to determine if a procedure is medically necessary. It will be like Workman’s Comp. I have been dealing with them since 1994, and everything has to be preapproved. Even then, the doctor still doesn’t get paid all the time and they drop you as a patient.
Please don’t believe everything you read or hear. Look for answers. Ask your doctor about it. Obamacare is another government program that we, the working people, will pay for.
