Editorial: Obama steps in it, again, with middle-class Americans

About politics and other things

First it was people who cling to guns and religion and now it’s housewives who are being belittled by the president and his party.

President Barack Obama has been trying to make his point that America is unfair by deriding America’s hard-working, taxpaying Midwesterners in his ongoing effort to divide (as in divide and conquer) the country.

Now it’s American housewives and homemakers who are the subject of the wrath and ridicule by the Democrat operatives. Well, of course, Obama himself did not dirty his hands with this latest round of middle-class warfare, but the dirt comes from his campaign staff and the National Democratic Party.

Going back to 2008, then-candidate Obama referred to working-class voters in the old industrial towns that had been decimated by job losses as “bitter” and “clinging to their guns and religion.” He accused them of having an “antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Those comments were recognized for what they were by Hillary Clinton, his political opponent at the time. She saw them for the elitist comments they were.

Obama was mocking people in small-town Middle America, showing how out of touch he is with the middle class, whom he continues to say he is helping.

The attack on homemakers is part of an effort to “prove” that the Republicans have declared war against women’s rights. Apparently some in this administration hold their right to choose a job outside the home in higher esteem than that of moms and wives who choose to stay home and care for their families.

Of course, Obama has distanced himself from those remarks, but the important thing is that they are out there -- and they were initiated under his watch by a top Democrat strategist, Hilary Rosen. She said Mitt Romney was wrong to think that he could accept advice on the economy from his wife, because, Rosen said, she had “never worked a day in her life.”

That seems a little like the pot calling the kettle black, since Obama has never had a “real job in his life.” That is, a job in the private sector and one that contributes to the productivity of the private sector. Obama’s entire professional experience was and is limited to teaching and community organizing -- no practical experience -- and it is showing.

On the other hand, Obama’s wife accepted a cushy position as “vice president of community relations” with a Chicago hospital, for which she was paid a hefty sum. When the job was eliminated, no one replaced her, so the question is, how vital was that job and what did she actually do to collect her salary?

There is really no indication that she has actually “worked” any more than did Romney’s wife, but Michelle Obama was paid more than $317,000, so that makes her more qualified to speak to the economy?

All this indicates that Obama continues full speed ahead with his class warfare, trying to pit those who work for a living against those who are on the government dole or on the government payroll. (In some cases, there is little or no difference.)

Obama’s insistence that there is a Republican war on women and his own efforts to fuel class warfare will only intensify as the election draws closer. Assuming that Romney will be the Republican nominee, the efforts will continue to paint Romney as super rich and out of touch.

While White House adviser David Plouffe and others continue their little “wars,” they are demanding that Mitt Romney release more of his tax returns, “If he’s got nothing to hide,” he would release them.

True enough, but I’m not hearing anything about Obama releasing his medical records or his college transcripts.

As Plouffe said, “Just release them.”

I agree.

Well of course. If you don't like Obama, you must be a racist. Makes perfect sense.... to a racist, or a Democrat strategist. And, of course, we all know that the "pot calling the kettle black" is a racist expression, ... More ›

What a bunch of racists!!! I think President Obama is doing a fantastic job considering the crisis he inherited from the previous President. I hope President Obama wins a 2nd term. We need him in the White House!

Yeah, that 68% actually believe that the so-called "rich" don't pay any taxes because they can hide it all somehow. What people don't realize, even about their own tax breaks, is that you can only write off ... More ›

Muse....What scares me is the possibility of a second term. There was a recent poll that showed 68 percent of the electorate thinks we ought to tax the rich more. The percentage was even higher among the so called independents. ... More ›

Is anyone surprised at anything this president or his administration says or does? They are scum. How on earth did we allow someone like this disaster to be elected.
