Council gives OK to Wi-Fi tower
STOCKDALE -- The city of Stockdale is one step closer to construction of a Wi-Fi communications tower in the city, after the city council gave the project its blessing during an April 9 special meeting.
According to City Manager Banks Akin after the meeting, the council approved a special-use permit for Brandon Rose of LVWifi.com High Speed Internet of La Vernia for construction of a 320-foot tower. The tower will be located on agricultural-type land at 305 Sixth St., near Wheeler Street. A public hearing was held March 26.
Also during the meeting, Frank Bain Jr., president of the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. (SEDC), presented a yearly update to the council advising that:
•The corporation has obtained the needed security bond of $100,000 each for the SEDC officers as stated in its by-laws.
•The SEDC’s primary objective is the advancement and marketing of the Stockdale Industrial Park, located off U.S. 87.
•The corporation is seeking to close six abandoned wells located in the industrial park, in accordance with the regulatory compliance of the Texas Railroad Commission.
In attendance: Mayor Johnny Stahl, councilmen Sherry D. Lambeck, Saul Bosquez, Scott Soden, and Becky Adams, City Manager Banks Akin, and Stockdale Economic Development Corp. President Frank Bain Jr.
