The Floresville Musical Club met April 10 for its monthly meeting in the First Lutheran Church in Floresville.
President Sarah Gella called the ladies to order. She then asked if there were guests, birthdays, or anniversaries for the month of April.
Gella then asked LaJuana Newnam-Leus, head hostess, to introduce her hostesses: Nancy Traeger, Bea Ploch, Edna Brownlow, Sandy Migl, Roni Sells, Rhea Nell Rogers, Lenora Dickens, Linda Pipes, Elaine Kolodziej, Peggy Tope, and Mary Ann Johnston.
The Musical Club provided the names of the Peanut Festival representative and scholarship winner who will be introduced in the upcoming May meeting, which will be a tour of homes.
In Peggy Tipton’s absence, Gella introduced the program, which was art projects from Mary Sepulveda’s art class from the Floresville North Elementary School campus. The projects were displayed on the tables for all to view. Monica Flores, a member of the club, displayed her artwork and gave a demonstration. She also explained how she got involved in art, as well as a little about her journey.
The tables were covered with cream tablecloths with colorful table toppers and round mirrors. Atop the mirrors were small vases with wildflowers. The serving table had an arm artist palette loaned to the club by Jack White, official Texas State Artist, who is also a master oil painter. The head table was also adorned with flowers behind the palette.
The refreshments were ham salad finger sandwiches, deviled eggs, veggie bars, lemonade, and coffee.
