1948-2012

Randy Wallace Harrell, a resident of Port Aransas, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, in his residence at the age of 64 years, 1 month, and 13 days. Randy was born March 1, 1948, in Bryan to Clyde Wallace and Margaret Helen (Eastman) Harrell.

Randy’s early years were spent in San Antonio before moving to Gonzales his freshman year in high school, where he remained until graduation in 1966. After completing high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and after being honorably discharged, enrolled in Texas Christian University, where he received a degree in ranch management.

In 1971, Randy married Debbie Bryce of Poteet, and they had two children, Dale and Jennifer. Randy was employed by the family business, Harrell Cattle Co., and relocated to George West in 1976 to manage a ranch operated by the Harrells. He eventually went out on his own and started a successful cattle order buying business. Randy made a name for himself as a team roper in the South Texas area, where he made many lifelong friends. He was also a great outdoorsman, and loved to hunt and fish. He hunted all over South Texas and Mexico, where he harvested many trophy deer.

In later years, Randy moved to Port Aransas, where he lived out the rest of his life in the salty air on the water he loved. Randy was very passionate about fishing, and enjoyed countless hours on the Gulf of Mexico. He was usually the life of the party and lived his life to the fullest. Randy will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made along the way, said his family.

Randy is survived by his son, Dale Harrell and wife Nita; his daughter, Jennifer Hubbell and husband Bill; his grandchildren, Will and Hannah Hubbell; and his sister, Ronda Brandt.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 19, from 5-7 p.m., with a memorial service at 6 p.m., in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

Memorials may be made to the Coastal Conservation Association, 6919 Port West Drive, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77024.
