POTH -- The district champion Poth Pirate baseball team defeated Cotulla 15-5 in six innings at home on April 17.

Poth’s Braden Lyssy was the winning pitcher, with Tyler Kallies catching the game.

Lyssy was successful three of his four times at bat, adding 3 RBIs and scoring two runs.

Tyler Kallies matched Lyssy’s three hits, adding 4 RBIs.

Zach Lyssy contributed two hits and 3 RBIs, and scored three runs.

Poth scored three runs in the first inning, and Cotulla returned in the second inning to earn one.

In the third inning, Cotulla’s two runs were enough to tie the score briefly, until the Pirates added one run in the bottom of the third.

While the fourth inning was scoreless, Poth came firing back with seven runs in the fifth, followed by four in the sixth inning. Cotulla ran out of juice and only scored two runs in the sixth. The game ended in a 15-5 victory for Poth.

Poth’s overall record is 18-3, 13-0 in district competition.
