Friday, April 20

Compared to last week: Hay prices lower and movement limited. Recent rains and storms over Texas in the last several weeks have benefited grasslands as grasses have flourished. Supplemental feeding of livestock on pastures is minimal in most areas of the state and hay needs are limited. Hay buyers and sellers are concerned at present with pricing new-crop hay supplies and negotiations are on-going. Many buyers are purchasing limited spot loads and waiting for new-crop prices to become established before building inventories.

Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.
