Indictments name 26 suspects
A 28-year-old San Antonio man is the subject of a five-count indictment handed down April 26 by a Wilson County grand jury, in connection with his March 3 escape from the Wilson County Jail in Floresville.
Jordan Robert Lewis is charged with aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated kidnapping, escape, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to court records. His bond is set at $150,000.
After Lewis’ escape from the jail shortly after 10 a.m., he stole a 2008 Ford Escape from the nearby Casa Solana convenience store and Shell gas station on Standish Street. Officials said he led deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety on a high-speed chase across the Atascosa County line before crashing the sport-utility vehicle (SUV) into a guardrail on I-37. Lewis was apprehended at gunpoint as the SUV burst into flames.
Also indicted was Bobby Martin Schroeder, 29, of Floresville. His three-count indictment charges him with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit aggravated robbery. His bond is set at $150,000.
Schroeder is alleged to be one of two men who stormed a home on Peach Street in Floresville March 15, threatening to kill a man inside if he did not give them money. Police reported that the resident said he had no currency, only a check for $1,046.72.
The men forced the resident to drive them to the H-E-B supermarket on U.S. 181 to cash a check, but the store’s business center was closed. They then forced the man to drive them to the Walmart Supercenter near the intersection of U.S. 181 and C.R. 130, where the check was cashed. The three left the store, with the two suspects exiting the vehicle on Sutherland Springs Road.
As of press time April 30, a second suspect has not been apprehended in this incident.
