Hay & Forage report for April 27

Compared to last week: Hay prices were lower with slow movement. Hay buyers and sellers continue to be concerned with pricing the new crop supply. Hay purchases continue to be limited until prices are established before building inventory. Recent rains and warm temperatures in Texas this week have helped warm season grasses to green up. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.
North, Central, & East Texas
Alfalfa: Small Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme $400-$495, $12-$15 per bale.
Large Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme $290-$325; Good to Premium $250-$290.
Coastal Bermuda: Small Squares: FOB: Good to Premium $295-$330, $8-$14 per bale.
Large Rounds: FOB: New-Crop $80-$85 per roll, few sales old crop $90; $160-$200; rained on $40-$60 per roll.
Wheat Hay: Large Rounds: Delivered: $145.
Rye Grass: Large Rounds: FOB and delivered locally: $50-$80 per roll. Small Square: $8 per bale.
South Texas Hay Report
Coastal Bermuda: Small squares: FOB: Good to Premium $200-$330, $6-$10 per bale.
Large rounds: FOB and delivered locally: Good to Premium: $130-$180; $65-$75 per roll.
