Albert Saenz III and Katie Smith from Floresville High School attended the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2012 National Leadership Conference, “Reach New Heights,” in Chicago, Ill., April 25-29.

Albert, Katie, and their Chapter Advisor, Rhea Nell Rogers, joined more than 5,000 conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national-level business skills competitions, workshops, general sessions, and the national officer candidate campaigns and elections.

Albert and Katie will serve the Texas BPA and FHS in officer roles over the next year. Katie is the Area II Region 2 BPA president and is representing FHS and approximately 17 other counties within the BPA area and region. Albert is the Texas BPA historian and will represent FHS and the state of Texas BPA delegation.

Albert was also awarded the Ambassador level Torch Award, which is given at the national level. As an Ambassador, Albert has achieved “a diplomatic official” of the highest rank appointed and accredited as a service representative of the BPA organization.

Rogers also was recognized at the conference for 10-year National BPA Advisor service to the organization.

BPA is a national organization for high school, college, and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology.
