I’m a combat-wounded 30-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, active and reserve. I retired as the sergeant major of Marine Forces Pacific. My civilian job was as a Border Patrol agent, special agent serving in the counter-terrorism division, and retired as Department of Homeland Security attaché and country director for Iraq in 2005--06.
