Our cemeteries need your help
The Floresville Cemeteries Restoration Association (FCRA) is again seeking support from local citizens and from those whose family members are buried here.
Virgil Russell, who has been the volunteer president of the association since the organization’s founding almost one year ago, said that, thus far, the largest single donation has come from a resident of Washington state. She has relatives buried in the Floresville City Cemetery and thinks it’s important to help with its upkeep and to keep it clean.
The volunteer association has placed donated flags on the graves of all military members buried in the city cemeteries and has made other improvements in cooperation with the city.
While working on the cemetery improvement project has been a rewarding experience, Russell said that he is disappointed that more people aren’t concerned. To date, donations have totaled only $725. He would like to see families who have loved ones buried here donate at least $25 for the upkeep and maintenance.
Those interested may send a check to FCRA; P.O. Box 264, Floresville, TX 78114, or contact Russell at 830-393-9238 for more information.
