Search continues for Falls City robbers
FALLS CITY -- Officials continue to seek the public’s help in finding three suspects responsible for an April 1 robbery at the Fillin’ Station on U.S. 181 here.
Karnes County Sheriff David Jalufka said that at approximately 10:30 a.m., one woman and two men slipped into the convenience store while a lone clerk was assisting customers during the store’s after-church rush. The female, described as having blonde hair and being in her late 20s, distracted the clerk while two men -- one described as being dark-complected and in his early 30s and the other described as heavyset, white, and in his late 20s to early 30s -- entered the store’s office and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from a safe.
Jalufka said the entire incident was captured on the store’s digital surveillance cameras and he is working with officials from 20 South Texas counties in an effort to identify the suspects. Jalufka believes the trio also is responsible for an identical incident that occurred in the Fillin’ Station Sept. 11, 2011.
The sheriff reminds residents and business owners that the area’s increasing population is creating additional opportunities for the dishonest among us. He urges storekeepers to pay attention to their clientele and to install surveillance equipment inside and outside their businesses. Jalufka also suggests keeping cash and other important items in a sturdy, locked safe.
Anyone with information about the Fillin’ Station robberies is asked to call the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office at 830-780-3931.
