Cowboy Fellowship plans Heritage Days
Arena Director D.R. Powell is already sampling chuck wagon offerings that will be available Saturday, May 12, at the Cowboy Fellowship Heritage Days in Pleasanton.
The ninth anniversary Heritage Days celebration of Cowboy Fellowship of Atascosa County will focus on the rich heritage of South Texans with a fun-filled weekend of free activities Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, in Pleasanton.
Friday’s event includes a ranch rodeo at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the celebration continues with fun for the entire family.
As part of the Heritage Days celebration, a pie contest will be held on Saturday. Pies can be entered between 9-10:15 a.m. with judging at 10:30 a.m. The recipe must be attached to the entry in the four pie categories -- fruit, nut, berry, and cream. All pies must be in a disposable 9-inch pan. One entry per category will be accepted. No refrigeration will be available. All pies will become property of Cowboy Fellowship at the time of registration.
After the 10:30 judging, the pies will be sliced for purchase, just in time for dessert after that great chuck wagon meal!
Nearby there will be a kids’ play area complete with petting zoo. Several chuck wagons will be on hand cooking and serving up real cow camp food. Plates will be available for sale at noon, for $10 a plate.
Other activities include a petting zoo and demonstrations by the Badland Texas Rangers and Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers. “The Cowboy Fellowship Band” will be on hand to provide music throughout the day. Other events include a youth rodeo at 10 a.m. and team roping at 5 p.m.
Entry forms for the pie contest, youth rodeo, and team roping are available at www.cowboyfellowship.org.
Cowboy Fellowship is located at 561 F.M. 3350 in Pleasanton.
See section D for more information regarding the church and the festivities planned.
