FLORESVILLE -- The seventh-grade Jaguar basketball “A” team won first place in the Floresville Basketball A-Team Tournament Jan. 21.

The girls won two dominating games to make it to the championship. The Jaguars won in the first round against Del Rio, then went on to defeat Uvalde in a rematch of a regular-season meeting where Uvalde had won, but the Jaguars won the rematch in the second round to earn a spot in the championship game against Pearsall.

The Jaguars easily defeated Pearsall to win the tournament title, and the girls all earned first-place medals and a plaque for their efforts. The MVP was Paige Naranjo, as she hit several important 3-point shots and led the team as its point guard. Her overall outstanding play helped lead her team to a championship.

Overall, it was a great day for the Jaguars, as they look forward to another great season next year.
