FLORESVILLE -- After finishing third in District 29-2A, the Stockdale Lady Brahmas softball team laid claim to the district’s final playoff spot, and took the field against Jourdanton April 30. Things didn’t go well for the Lady Brahmas, however, and the Squaws earned a 17-0 bi-district win after four innings of play.

Stockdale had the first at-bat in the game, but Jourdanton quickly went through the top of the order, retiring the first three batters to step up to the plate. Jourdanton then took its turn at the plate, and made the most of every opportunity. The Squaws combined solid hitting with smart base running, and began to put runs on the board. The Lady Brahmas had some miscues in the field, committing a number of errors, and Jourdanton jumped out to a large 9-0 lead before the side could be retired.

After failing to score any runs of their own in the top of the second inning, the defense returned to the field in the bottom of the frame, giving up 3 additional runs to Jourdanton. The Squaws later added 3 more runs in the bottom of the third, and tacked on 2 final runs in the fourth. With Stockdale unable to generate any run support, the game ended with the final score of 17-0 in favor of Jourdanton.
