The Girl Scouts of La Vernia Troop 8 raised more than $265 and collected numerous cell phones and ink cartridges for recycling during their donation drive to “bale out” the horses April 28 at the Osborne Stables Horse Rescue, located in Sutherland Springs.

During the fund-raiser, five Junior Girl Scouts earned their Bronze Award.

Osborne Stables is a permanent refuge for 34 horses that have come to the stable to recover from injuries, neglect, abuse, and abandonment.
