1953-2012

Oscar M. Posada, 58, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, in his home in Nixon, Texas. He was born Sept. 20, 1953, in Nixon, the son of Luciano and Elveda (Macharo) Posada.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Delores Posada; and three brothers-in-law, Joe Hernandez, David Espinosa, and Abel Cantu.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Cano) Posada of Seguin; his daughter, Dominque Armenta of Tolleson, Ariz.; his sons, Samuel Wade Grieve and wife Jessica of Dickenson, N.D., and Andrew James Posada of Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren, Gracie Rayne Grieve and Christopher Armenta; a step-son, Joshua Ryan Lopez of Seguin; his six sisters, Rosa Cantu, Alice Hernandez, and Lily Gaytan and husband Lee, all of Nixon, Minnie Espinosa of Gonzales, Sophie Riojas and husband Severo Riojas Jr. of Nixon, and Auga Marquez of Nixon; his brother, Alfred Posada and wife Lucy of Nixon; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family and many friends.

Viewing was held Friday, May 11, from 5-8 p.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon.

A rosary was recited Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the church.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. in the church with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating.

Interment followed in the Nixon Latin American Cemetery in Nixon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
