Put on some comfy strolling shoes, take the family, and gear up for the much-anticipated 34th annual Bluebonnet Fest taking place Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, in the La Vernia City Park. The event is sponsored by the La Vernia Lions Club.

Friday’s festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a carnival and an assortment of arts and crafts vendors and festival food booths you crave all year. A dance and live music in the pavilion by Jack Higginbotham will end the night from 7-11 p.m.

The festival fun will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the carnival and festival booths. The newly crowned Miss La Vernia and her court will make their first public appearance as community ambassadors in a parade at 10 a.m. from the high school, onto F.M. 775, then U.S. 87, and ending at San Antonio Road. Ooh and ahh over the variety of floats from local and surrounding area businesses, youth organizations, and clubs.

Take the kids to the petting zoo and pony rides from 12-4 p.m. in the City Park and take in the live auction, and maybe even a Wild West Show. Enjoy a free plant giveaway by Calvin Finch at 3 p.m. in the City Park Gazebo.

Dance to a different beat Saturday night as Clint Taft and the “Buck Wild Band” perform live in the pavilion from 7-11 p.m.
