South Texas Heritage Pork Farm will host the Fine Swine Cook-off and Flavor Fest Sunday, May 20, from 2-8 p.m. at 4268 C.R. 404 near Floresville. This celebration of pasture-based farming and artisanal food production will feature tastings and food sales from San Antonio food trucks and vendors, cooking demonstrations, a pie-eating contest, and live music.

The event includes the first-ever Heritage Hog Cook-Off, a competition between students at The Culinary Institute of America - San Antonio and The Art Institute of San Antonio that will feature one of South Texas Heritage Pork’s pasture-raised hogs.

Special guest judges will include Jason Dady of Bin 555, David Gilbert of Sustenio, Steven McHugh of Lüke San Antonio Riverwalk, Michael Sohocki of Restaurant Gwendolyn, and San Antonio-based food writer Chris Dunn. Prominent Thai food expert, chef, and writer McDang will also attend. Participating growers include Grassland Oasis, Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard, Culinary Institute of San Antonio, Peeler Farms, and Art Institute of San Antonio.

Culinary schools will receive a portion of the proceeds as a donation to their culinary programs and the students will win prizes to help start their careers.

Admission is $35 for adults, $20 for children. VIP passes for $75 include “ringside” reserved seating and upgraded beer and wine tasting. Tickets are available online at http://southtexasheritagepork. For information, call Kelly at 830-534-7993.
