EC FFA carves out wins in Houston, Tarleton State

The East Central FFA meats team has gotten off to a great start during this spring’s meat evaluation events. The team started off the year placing fifth at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo contest and then placed first-overall team at the Houston Livestock Show contest and the Tarleton State University Invitational.

At the Houston contest, Jordan Hevner was the second overall individual; Christi Schick, fourth overall; and Aaron Maron, 13th overall. The members of the winning team, which also including Shelbi Knox, were awarded belt buckles for their accomplishments.

At the Tarleton State University contest, Shelbi Knox was seventh overall; Christi Schick and Jordan Hevner tied for 14th; and Aaron Maron, 18th overall.

By virtue of the students’ overall performance at Tarleton, the East Central FFA was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for a 2012 senior student who enrolls at Tarleton this coming fall as an agriculture major.

Also competing in the various contests were Ciarra Gawlik and Sean Mulhollen.

The Area VII FFA contest was held April 14 at Texas A&M University.
