Alexandra Fernandez, a junior at Washington and Lee University from San Antonio, is participating in the University’s Washington Term this month.

Fernandez, a graduate of Northside Health Careers High School and an economics major at Washington and Lee, is interning with Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida.

Students are selected to participate in the Washington Term Program on a competitive basis. The program aims to enhance students’ understanding of national politics and governance. Combining the practical experience of a political internship with academic study, it affords deeper insight into the processes and problems of government at the national level.

Washington and Lee University, the nation’s ninth- oldest institution of higher education, is among the nation’s premier liberal arts colleges and universities.
