The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office is seeking candidates for the position of an Administrative Assistant. Duties will include but not limited to: answering incoming calls and greeting visitors, prepare discovery for defense bar as required, providing administrative and clerical support to the ADAs and District Attorney, assist in general office work and perform related duties as follows: Operate a multi-line telephone switchboard, proficient use of software applications and computer equipment, scanning and compiling files for eDiscovery, filing and creating court files, generating reports as required. Applicants must have at least five (5) years of administrative assistant experience, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. On April 20-21, six Stockdale High School students went to San Marcos and competed at Texas State at the UIL regional meet. As a school, the students earned 99 points. Stockdale will be sending five students to the state competition at the University of Texas at Austin May 21-22.

On April 20, the computer science team, coached by John Martin, placed first and will be advancing to state. The individual result ended in Clayton Lynn receiving third; Joe Bustos, in second; and Moises Holguin placed first.

On April 21, the calculator team, coached by Amy Thiede, also placed first and will be joining the computer science team at state. Clayton Lynn ended up in sixth, John Rogers received fourth, Gerald Gonzalez placed second, and Moises Holguin came in first. Also, Moises placed fifth in mathematics, coached by Kerri Darilek; and Shannon Freasier placed fifth in computer applications, coached by John Martin. Michael Opela placed fourth in prose, coached by Jennifer Martin, and is the alternate for state.

Stockdale High School placed fifth overall at regionals. We wish all of you good luck!

Megan Conaway is a senior at Stockdale High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, FCCLA, FCA, and FFA, and plays volleyball and basketball. She plans to study at Howard College to become an X-ray technician.
