Here are some interesting headlines from the last few days.

Quote: APNewsBreak: Chamber to run congressional ads

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is launching ads in Florida, Missouri, Hawaii and Ohio as Democrats struggle to hold Senate seats and their slim majority. The Republican-friendly lobbying group is also targeting 17 House races from New York to Minnesota.

Comment: Did you get that from the Associated Press? The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a Republican-friendly lobbying group? ...

Quote: CNN.com: Romney won’t make McCain’s mistake

By Gloria Borger ... McCain chose the Hail Mary; that's who he is. Romney won't do that. His choice will be more staid and more subdued -- and someone he knows he can work with across that conference table.

That might not be exciting, but it would be authentic. Which is exactly what Romney needs to be.

Comment: and someone he knows he can work with across that conference table. That might not be exciting, but it would be authentic.

Did you get that? How can you find someone less exciting than Romney? Romney is the perfect little Boy Scout. He’s good, but fails to excite the voters -- and we need more of that? ... Really????

Quote:DogsAgainstRomney.com:

Dogs Against Romney Coordinating with Touch-stone/Simon & Schuster on Launch of New Book, DOG ON THE ROOF!

On the Road with Mitt and the Mutt by political satirists Bruce Kluger and David Slavin...

Comment: For all those who are worried about Romney’s dog on the roof, save your breath ... Have you never seen a dog happily sticking his head and half his body out an open window while the wind blows his fur? Doggies say it will be OK.

Now, for the headlines that you are not reading or seeing on the alphabet television news sources.

How much are you reading about the U.S. bishops and the Catholic Church filing lawsuits against the Department of Health and Human Services over mandatory birth control coverage? Probably, not much.

This is from Brent Bozell: “This is the worst bias by omission I have seen in the quarter century history of the Media Research Center, tantamount to the Chinese communists withholding news for 20 years that we landed on the moon, because it reflected poorly on the government. Our US media today are no different.”

“...ABC's World News and NBC's Nightly News completely failed to report this historic event! CBS Evening News only dedicated a brief 19 seconds to the story and framed it as a birth control debate. By contrast, ABC led their evening broadcast with the sentencing of the Rutgers student who spied on his gay roommate with a web cam-era. That story received three minutes and 30 seconds of coverage at the top of the newscast.

“This is not a mistake or an editorial oversight by the broadcast networks. This is a deliberate and insidious withholding of national news to protect the 'Chosen One' who ABC, CBS and NBC have worked so hard to elect and are now abusing their journalistic influence to reelect.”

Bozell is with Media Research Center, and he is not alone is noticing the dearth of news by major media about the largest lawsuit against the federal government’s mandates. As nearly four dozen dioceses and institutions have filed on behalf of religious freedom, why is it being virtually ignored as a news story?

The issue of religious freedom is larger than just the Catholic Church, so it would behoove other religions to pay attention. Even if the onerous regulations from Washington are not affecting them now, who is to say they will not be next?
