Elvira Silva passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, at 6:14 p.m. in her residence in Poth, Texas, at the age of 85 years and 17 days. Elvira was born May 1, 1927, in Dewees, the daughter of Brijida and Pablo DeHoyos Sr.

She worked as a caregiver and was a member of Catholic Daughters, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Eucharists Minister, and the Cursillo Movement.

Elvira was preceded in death by her husband, Federico Silva Sr.; her parents; her daughter, Anita Delgado and husband Joe; one infant son; and her siblings, Antonio DeHoyos, Pablo DeHoyos, Ofelia Estrada, Reymundo Delgado, Luis DeHoyos, Juan DeHoyos, Jesse DeHoyos, and Francisco DeHoyos.

Elvira is survived by her children, Concepcion Herrera and husband Ray Herrera Sr., Federico Silva Jr. and wife Gloria Maria, Guadalupe Hernandez and husband Frank Hernandez Jr., Oralia Torres and husband John, Sylvia Diaz and husband Roger, and Margarita Silva; her grandchildren, Ray Jr., Danny, Cynthia, David, Catherine, Joey, Freddy, Frankie, Jennifer, Roland, Melody, Reanna, Renee, and Rebecka; great-grandchildren Sabrina, Jonathan, Megan, Ashley, Daniella, Daniel, Johnny, Alyssa, Mateo, Mason, Tyler, Averiegh, Raina, and Valencia; her great-grandson, Jaydon; and her siblings, Pedro Delgado, Aurora Hernandez, Beatrice Sanchez, Jose DeHoyos, Willie DeHoyos, Arturo DeHoyos, Anita Castellano, Clara Garza, and Mary Lou Gonzales.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 22, from 3-6 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A rosary was recited Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the church officiated by Father Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.

Interment will follow in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers will be Freddie Silva III, Frankie Hernandez, David Delgado, Daniel Delgado, Joey Delgado, and Roland Herrera. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Ray Herrera Jr.
