Ervin Robert Neatherlin Jr., born on Sept. 15, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Ervin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a staunch Republican who has been disappointed for the last four years.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Mary Neatherlin, and recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. He will be greatly missed by his children and their spouses, Cathy and Charlie Amato, Robert and Teresa Neatherlin, Inez and Andy McBride, Carol Neatherlin Pletcher and Zale Pletcher, and John Neatherlin; his grandchildren, Tracy and Vince Smart, Michael and Lauren Neatherlin, Shawn and Larry Baker, Amanda and Vince Nazario, Andrea McBride, Robert Grun, Marcus Amato, Allison Amato, and Bethanie Pletcher; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, James Neatherlin and wife June; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ervin lived a long and fulfilling life. His storytelling will be fondly remembered, said his family.

A memorial service and Mass will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Memorials may be made to one of Ervin’s favorite charities, the VFW, P.O. Box 421, Poth, TX 78147; Animal Defense League, 11300 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, TX 78217; NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030; or ASPCA, 424 East 92nd St., New York, NY 10128; or to any Republican fund that will get a Democrat out of office.
