Elizabeth K. “Katherine” Wiatrek, a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, lost her courageous 16-year battle with Parkinson’s on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 10 days. Elizabeth was born on Dec. 9, 1931, to Domicilla (Yosko) and Joe Krawietz in Poth.

She married Conrad Wiatrek on Aug. 17, 1947, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, where she was a lifelong member and an active member of the Altar Society.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 40 years, Conrad Wiatrek; her parents; and four sisters.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Archie Wiatrek and wife Debbie and Kenneth Wiatrek; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard Krawietz of San Antonio.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 23, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by Father Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.

Interment will follow in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Wiatrek, Mark Dziuk, Nathan Dziuk, Willie Wiatrek, Larry Wiatrek, and Fabian Wiatrek.
