The final regular meeting of Wilson County Retired School Personnel (WCRSP) was held May 1 in the Bengal Bistro, the FISD Culinary Arts restaurant and classroom. Instructor Sara Lyssy and her culinary arts students created a fine dining experience for those in attendance.

Lovely tables decorated with flowers set the tone as students served coffee, tea, or water to arriving guests. Chef Katie of Katie’s Little Italy prepared a menu of jalapeno garlic tilapia or chicken, served with salad, bread, and a delectable chocolate tiramisu dessert. This was her class project. WCRSP members gave her an A+!

President Charles Rice thanked his officers for their support the last five years, then turned the official WCRSP gavel over to President-elect Bill Gleeson. New officers also include Priscilla Kincaid as first vice president, Olga Alvarez as second vice president, Bonnie Reed as secretary, and Lydia Martinez as treasurer.

Charles Rice and Bill Gleeson will collaborate on one final project for the year. The District 20 Texas Retired Teachers Association Spring Workshop will be held Thursday, June 7, in the Floresville Event Center. Delegates from 14 local TRTA units will meet to learn responsibilities of officers and chairpersons. More than 120 retired teachers are expected to attend.

WCRSP members are excited to be part of this and encourage local businesses to contact Charles at 830-393-8215 or Bill at 830-391-1547 if interested in donating door prizes or supporting the WCRSP in some other way.
