Tigers plan Maroon and White game
FLORESVILLE -- As spring football nears an end at Floresville High School, the Tigers are gearing up for their annual Maroon and White game.
As a Class 4A school, Floresville is allowed to conduct spring training. In order to hold a spring training camp, however, the team must forfeit a portion of its fall workout schedule. They must give up five days in August, but gain 18 days in which to hold spring workouts.
Throughout most of May, current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who plan to play football next fall have been working out and preparing for next season. Current seniors and incoming freshmen have not participated in the workouts, but a separate “fish camp” for incoming freshmen is planned.
The football workouts will come to an end Thursday, May 24, at 6 p.m., as the Tigers play their Maroon and White game. The team will be divided into two teams, and will square off on Eschenburg Field. There will be no charge for admission.
