Claire Luensmann, a 2009 graduate of La Vernia High School, graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University on May 11, with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics. During the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences spring awards convocation, Claire received the 2012 Senior Merit Award.

Based on leadership, scholarship, and service at the department, college, and university level, the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Senior Merit Award is the highest award given to undergraduates by the College.

Claire was also the Censor for the Alpha Zeta honors fraternity, an Aggie REPS for the Agricultural Economics Department, member of the Saddle and Sirloin Club, and competitor on the Texas A&M Animal Science Academic Quadrathlon team.

She was a member of the 2009-10 Intercollegiate Wool Judging Team, and also served as an assistant coach for the 2010-11 team. Claire worked as a teaching and research assistant within the Department of Agricultural Economics and was a Texas A&M President’s Endowed Scholar and Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society member. She was also selected as a discussant for the Dallas Federal Reserve Economic Scholars Conference.

Claire is serving as an assistant research analyst at Agrilogics Insurance and Consulting Services this summer, and will pursue a Master of Science degree in agricultural economics at Kansas State University in Manhattan this fall.
