I don't blog that much, but I feel obligated to do so at this time. Sheriff Tackitt is probably one of most honest and hard working Sheriff's in this state, and not just during election time but every day. Sheriff Tackitt has helped countless people in this community before and after his election to Sheriff. And for those who are thinking I must be either a relative, employee or friend.... You're right, he's a friend, just as he is a friend to most people in this County. I hope the people of this County recognize what an asset Sheriff Tackitt has been to this County, and hope you continue to support him.

I do not understand how people can complain about something that is free - Or I think it is - I subscribe to both paper and online WCN so maybe I am seeing more than the people who log on here for free.

I was there last night when the results were given to Mr. Gibbs and it was a very slow process. He posted the results the second he received them. Sorry Wilson County is not as high tech as Bexar County.

Doesn't matter that she was fired, matter of fact the county is lucky she did not file for unemployment. If she was fired, it is because the attorney we did have didn't like that she was actually getting work done and he wasn't able to focus on his private practice out of the county office. Danyah is an outstanding attorney and will bring the servant back to that office and make sure that those DUIs, drug cases, child abuse and others that are brought to the office will have their day in court. She will NOT have a private practice inside that office where the taxpayers will pay for the office space. She will bring back the attention on domestic violence into our county (there is plenty of it) and she will also participate in commissioner court meetings knowing what she needs to do. She will put competent people in the office that know law and know how to file and write documentations. She is going to put integrity back into the office for the ocunty! Wilson County will not be dissappointed.

As far as the Sheriff race, people need to understand politics before they talk. Sheriff Tackitt has nothing to worry about and will be re-elected. His deputies have done tremendous work for this county in his time. It is not their (or his) fault that the commissioners (Ray Wolf) will not give them the budget they need to be more productive and keep deputies here. The county should be thankful that the deputies do not band together and produce an association (like Bexar County) and demand better pay for the hours they work and not to mention better insurance. They are NOT 8a-5p employees and they are not replacable when they call in sick. They work weekends, holidays, and everything in between. They do not sit behind a desk all day and jabber jaw about nonsense, those men and woman, protect this county to the best ability and what they are given to work with. This county should be grateful that we have a new county attorney that will work for the county and a Sheriff that has a heart for the county.

November elections is what matters!

And,incidentally, your analysis of the Sheriff's race is goofy. About 3300 people in Wilson County voted in the Republican primary, compared to about 650 in the democratic primary. The Burchell/ Tackitt race is going to be interesting, for sure; but that deosn't mean that Burchell is a shoe-in. Sounds like you have a problem with local law enforcement. How many of your relatives have been busted lately? And is the fact that the WCN is reporting on the busts your driving factor in trying (in vain) to discredit the writers?

The only person who should be paying attention to those numbers is your ridiculous cousin, littled. Less than 20% of the voters are democrats- and most of them are irritated with the city hall shenanigans. This means that your primo cannot possibly win a partisan race, although he seems dead set on trying. The very fact that you mention the County Judge's seat tells us that he's talked to you about it as well. FYI-he cannot win the County Judge's seat. Even if Marvin retires, he cannot win the seat. He has no support here, with the exception of Gomez and Castillo- and only about 1/2 of your/his family because he's managed to alientate them as well. Please ensure you get that memo into the spiral, ok?

Well, Thankful to be Here... I wish you were half as thankul to have had an education; however your ignorant rant, complete with spelling errors, syntax errors and grammatical travesty indicates that you may have skipped a class or two. Apparently you also missed Government/ Economics- you know, where the market competes and the best product wins. What was the name of the paper that couldn't hold a candle to WCN, so had to shut their doors? Yeah, I can't remember either.

The very fact that you spend time on this website indicates that even you read the paper; albeit I doubt very seriously that you can comprehend many of the analogies presented in the informative writings of Mr. Gibbs and his colleagues. If you have such an issue with the writings of the WCN, I suggest that you invest the capital, keep up with payroll and production deadlines and create your own paper. However, please please please hire an editor, because you clearly are not cut out for the job.

Thank you for your efforts, WCN. Election nights are tough. Sixteen hour days, followed by an early morning recap and analysis. You all are tougher than most.
