Social media workshop set
Social media has become a professional and necessary function for small and large businesses. Many companies want to learn more about how these powerful, low-cost business tools can benefit them. A workshop called “Promoting Your Business with Social Media” will be offered on Tuesday, June 12, at the La Vernia Primary Cafeteria from 6-9 p.m. It is presented by the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce, the La Vernia Independent School District (ISD), and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Small Business Development Center. Professional business advisors from the UTSA Institute for Economic Development Small Business Development Center will provide instructions and be available to answer questions.
Businesses, nonprofits, churches, and companies of all sizes will learn about social media opportunities through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Yelp, YouTube, and blogging, and which social media channels work best for their company. The workshop will explain how to use social media to market any business while increasing traffic to a company’s website and location at little or no cost. Learning to set up a social media account and the terminology will also be explained, along with step-by-step instructions for measuring the effectiveness of a company’s social media presence.
Registration is $30 in advance or $35 at the door which includes a light dinner. Register online at www.LaVerniaChamber.com or at the door; however, seating is limited to 50 people. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the La Vernia ISD and the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce. Participants may take a laptop or iPad, but it is not required.
