Adelyn Rose Rihn Bippert went to meet Our Lord Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 76 years, 10 months, and 3 days. Adelyn was born July 17, 1935, in Hondo, Texas, to Bernard and Mary (Hutzler) Rihn.

Adelyn, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was a longtime resident of Floresville. She worked as the cafeteria manager for Floresville Sacred Heart School before retiring and was most known in the community for her famous “Adelyn’s Peanut Brittle.” Adelyn was from a family of 12 children, 9 girls and 3 boys, and had an identical twin sister, Madelyn (her best friend). Adelyn married Vernor Bippert on Sept. 8,1953, in La Coste. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville and the VFW Ladies Auxillary Post 8555.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marcela Rihn; and her brothers, Dennis Rihn and Anthony Rihn.

Adelyn Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Vernor Bippert of Floresvlle; her children, Eileen Pelech and husband Gayland of Floresville, Cheryl Dziuk and husband Marvin of Castroville, Vernell Wiatrek and husband Allan of San Antonio, Ryan Bippert and wife Laura of Floresville, and Sharon Dunn and husband David of Stockdale. Adelyn was blessed with 12 grandchildren, her roses. Grandchildren include Branden Pelech, Brianne Baggs, Kristen Scheetz, Melissa Sims, Kelsey Fankel, Kasey Ayers, Allison Wiatrek, Kyndal, Kyle, and Kolten Bippert, and Dylan and Matthew Dunn. There are six great-grandchildren to add to her bouquet of roses, Brenna and Brinley Baggs, Clayten, Adysen, and Brooklyn Pelech, and Kaitlyn Sims. Also surviving her are her sisters, Anna Mae Hitzfelder, Inez Harless, JoAnn Blume of La Coste, Eva Ruffin, twin sister Madelyn Murphy, Mary Catherine Tschirhart, and Barbara Hargroder of San Antonio; and one brother, Jerome Rihn of La Coste. From this large family, Adelyn and her siblings were blessed with 51 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Clinton Bippert of La Grange and Roger Bippert of La Coste.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 22, from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.
