Matagorda woman pleads guilty to forgery
Toni Lee Hanley, 50, of Matagorda has been given two 14-month state jail sentences, after she pled guilty May 22 in Wilson County District Court to forgery charges.
According to court records, Hanley was charged with two counts of forgery, in relation to two incidents that occurred on Nov. 28 and Dec. 4, 2011. That was when she and Jon Mykel Morales, 36, of San Antonio attempted to cash forged checks in H-E-B supermarkets in Floresville and La Vernia. Morales was sentenced April 9 to serve five years on each of his four counts.
In exchange for the court dismissing two of the counts, Hanley decided March 20 to waive her right to a trial by jury.
Also in district court May 22 for a pretrial hearing was 50-year-old Steven Edward Cole. He is charged with five counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, for his alleged role in a Jan. 15, 2011, shootout north of Floresville. Court records indicate Cole will return to court June 13 for a docket call, with jury selection in his trial set to begin June 23.
